Software Engineer
Principle Accountabilities:
- To generate and maintain quality software, and associated documentation, which conforms to the Suntech Development Process and meets the Project Requirements
- Technical Area Specialist - Architects and creates specifications for major software subsystems, or overall system, as required and as outlined in Pace Product Development Process.
- Produce well structured, documented and maintainable code.
- Ensure proper test, debug and verification of software prior to release
- Contribute to institutionalisation of disciplines, process & tools and ensure adherence to Pace Product Development Process.
- Participate in, and contribute to, formal Design and Project Reviews.
- Create work breakdown and estimates for New Projects/Systems.
- Configuration management in relation to software releases. Design of build environment managing source trees, etc.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
You will have at least experience of commercial software development and be able to demonstrate your specific contribution to a number of successful projects.
Your achievements and ambition will be key but it is likely that you will hold a Degree or Post-Graduate qualification in Computer Science, Engineering or appropriate discipline.
The key technical capabilities for these roles are listed below: You may not be an expert in all of the areas listed; however the successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in a number of the areas and experience in integrating them into a larger system.
- Object Oriented Programming / Design
- Embedded software development using C and C++
- Experience with embedded operating systems (Linux, VxWorks)
- Experienced in the use of RTOS (WindRiver)
- Knowledge of networking protocols (DOCSIS, SNMP)
- MPEG transport stream processing and decoding & DVB SI
- Experience with knowledge of digital TV industry standard middleware and applications (OpenTV)
- Experience with low-level APIs and associated stacks (IP, TCP)
- Knowledge of AV related internet protocols (RTP)
